Most people make the wrong assumption that trust precludes struggle; faith erases doubt; hope removes dispair. How much of the therapy craze is due to an absence of opportunity to confess our hurt, anger, and confusion to God in the presence of others of like mind? 
 
I believe doubt and suffering are the soil that are necessary to grow faith and joy but I still don't like it and rarely invite it. Cry of the Soul is a great read on this topic.
